Started in January 2019, Oakford Home Furnishings is proud to be a family run small business specializing in floating shelves! If you have any questions about your options, please do not hesitate to reach out.

We are also happy to send a digital copy of the installation instructions for these shelves, upon request, to help you make the most informed decision. These include photos and are a step-by-step guide to give you the confidence you need to install these yourself!

THIS LISTING
Each purchase includes one shelf with:
•    Natural Sapele Hardwood (no stains or other color altering products are used)
•    1.75" or 2” Thick Height (please note the profile photo displays a 1.75” shelf example)
•    Chamfered Edge Profile
•    Heavy-Duty Hidden Metal Bracket
•    Mounting Hardware
•    Installation Instructions 
•    Hand Finishing (using a high quality, food safe, solvent free, non-toxic hard wax oil wood finish and stabilizer)
•    * Since each shelf is made to order, the wood grain pattern/color will vary from order to order and exact dimensions may vary slightly
 
When installed using the bracket provided with each purchase, each bracket can support approximately 55 pounds of additional weight for each wall stud that it is attached to (please note, the wood shelf itself is considered part of the weight that the bracket is supporting). Our brackets include pre-drilled holes at 1/2" intervals.
 
Estimated installation time per shelf: 15 minutes
 
These can be used in any indoor living space, including bathrooms!

CUSTOM ORDER OPTIONS
Depending on the other specifications of the project, shelves can be accommodated in:
•    Thicknesses: 1.25” – 2.5” in solid wood, up to 3.5” for hollow shelves
•    Widths: 12” – 72”
•    Depths: 4” – 14”
•    Profile Options: Other Edge Customizations (ex: 2 chamfered and 1 squared edge to sit against side of a wall)
•    Additional Hardware: We can pre-install other hardware for you, such as wine glass holders, hooks etc.
•    Wood Types: Contact us with any special requests, including custom colors using stains. Also available: live edge sourcing
•    Commercial order fulfillment
 
There can be many factors to consider.
 
For example, are you trying to install a very long single shelf in your kitchen to create the open kitchen of your dreams? 
 
You will want to consider whether your wall is even slightly bowed. If it is, it may be best to purchase two smaller shelves that can be made to fit flush against one another. This can be done while still creating the look of a single larger shelf on the wall, and will help prevent a drastic gap between the back of the shelf and the wall once installed.
